Together as one family

Late/Absence Procedures

The school playground is supervised from 8.45 am each morning when the doors are opened.

Registers are taken at 8.55 am. Children arriving at school after this point should enter via the main entrance and sign in at the office.

If your child is going to be absent, you must inform the school office (01900 829859) as soon as possible with a reason for the absence. We expect that routine appointments with doctors and dentists are made outside of school hours. Holidays during term time will not be authorised unless there are exceptional circumstances.

There are procedures in place which we follow if there are children absent without a reason.  The steps include texting, ringing and emailing parents/carers. If we still haven't ascertained a reason why your child is not at school, we will make a home visit.  Our final step will be to call the Police and ask them to undertake a Welfare Check.

Registers are monitored carefully and if children's attendance falls to unacceptable levels, we might ask parents/carers to come into school for a meeting with an Attendance Panel. We are working closely with Julie Topping from the Access and Inclusion Team at the Local Authority who supports schools with attendance matters.  She deals with families where persistent absenteeism is an issue (attendance below 90%) and if necessary begin legal action.
