Tudor history topic October 2019

This term we are learning all about Henry VIII and his wives. They had a terrible time, all 6 of them! Year 2 and 3 have been using non fiction books and the internet to search for information. They painted portraits of themselves in tudor dress. Have a look in the classroom if you haven't seen the display of portraits, tudor roses and information the children have found out.

Class 2 and 3 went to Carlisle Castle to see the Weeping Window of poppies! We had a lovely day and the sun certainly had his hat on!

We're all dressed up for the Royal wedding today!

What an excellent day we had at The St Bees RNLI and The Beacon Museum, topped off with ice cream! More Pictures to follow and some will be up in the entrance hall of school!

Robyn brought some Tadpoles in to show the class, some of them were almost frogs!

Class 2 had a visit from the Coastguard as part of our seaside topic. We learnt lots and had fun!

We made the most of the sunshine today and took our maths lesson outisde!

Best attitude this week goes to Olivia for being an excellent team Captain! Well done!

The whole school took part in a fun egg dump and egg roll to celebrate Easter. The over all school winner was our very own, Skye! Congratulations!!

Our last Topic was the Titanic. Here are some pictures of the fabulous models made as part of the 'Pick and Mix' homework tasks!

Last week's PE star was Robyn! Super sportsmanship shown Robyn, well done!

We loved sharing our favourite characters and stories with our friends in Class 2 today! Happy World Book Day everyone!

Year 3 had their 1st Tennis coaching session today. They did lots of ball and skill practice!

We had a visit from the Fire Service and they explained how fire and smoke alarms work, how to test them and let us hear what they sound like. We discussed different scenarios and what we would do in them. This involved phoning 999, what we would say about our emergency and practising crawling through smoke. We all had a go with the hose, listened to the siren and looked at all the different equipment.

Father Tom came today to talk to us all about Lent. He asked us some questions, showed us how to make origami crosses and put ashes on our head to mark the beginning of Lent.

Well done Zak, awarded best attitude for his leadership skills and for great listening skills in the session! Super effort Zak!

We love to read in Class 2 so a trip to the Library bus was fantastic! We really enjoyed looking through the books and choosing new ones to read at home and in school!

Welcome to Class 2's Newsround! We have had a great few days planning, writing speeches, researching, practicing and performing for our very own news report! The teamwork has been excellent - we even had behind the scene assistants, camera operators and researchers. The language used has been very impressive! Great work Class 2! videos to follow!

St. Joseph's tennis team came 5th in the COUNTY! finals yesterday. A superb effort year 4 very well done!

Today we have got Dave from Skip 2 be Fit doing a full day of Skip and Box 2 be Fit! We couldn't contain our excitement!

Our topic for this half term is Africa. Today we studied African art in the book we are reading and on some items that Mrs Banks and Mrs Ditchburn brought back from their trip to Ghana! We were very inspired and couldn't wait to sketch some ideas.

Wet break time construction!

This week, in school, we have focused on other faiths- particularly Islam. Today we worked in groups to act out each of the 5 Pillars of Islam. Class 2 thoroughly enjoyed getting creative with RE!
